Making healthy nut Butters at home

Many people love peanut butter as a tasty snack. It is a shame that peanut butter has developed a reputation as an unhealthy food, because fresh nut Butters are in fact very rich in fatty acids, and nutrients which are only soluble in fats. Not all fats are bad – in order to maintain healthy membranes in your body, you do need a steady supply of certain types of lipids. Nuts, seeds and fish oils are some of the best sources of these oils.

So where can you get healthy peanut butter?

Some people choose to buy their nut Butters made fresh at local health food stores, which is a great option. Another possibility is to simply make your own. This is in fact not as difficult as you may think and surprisingly, one of the easiest ways to do so is by using a fruit juicer machine.

Now, a word of warning here: not all juicers are the same! The only type of juicer that are suitable to use here, is what is known as a masticating juicer. These juicers are identifiable by the fact they use slowly turning rollers in order to physically crush food rather than shred it using spinning blades.

Some of the most common ones are known as the Angel juicer, Greenpower juicer, and Lexsun Juicer. Make sure your juicer is compatible before you try this!

In order to make peanut butter using a juicer machine of this sort, all you need is a supply of fresh nuts. It is simply a process of feeding the fresh nuts into the machine while is running, and collecting be processed nut butter as it passes through the machine. Although this may sound weird, it is really no different to juicing fruits or vegetables – but instead of liquid being crushed out, the juicer system simply crushes the nuts, releasing the oils to blend smoothly with the rest of the nut.

Making nut butter is great fun, especially for the kids to join in. The best thing is that these freshly made nut Butters contain no added ingredients, and can be enjoyed guilt free whenever you want!
